Numerous news outlets and blogs recently reported that Rap Superstar and power mogul Shawn Carter, best known to music world as Jay-Z, is vey close to having a new record label with either Warner Music Group or Sony Music. The mastermind behind the once powerhouse Roc-A-Fella Records and popular urban fashion brand, Rocawear, has been taking meetings with Executives at both companies, but nothing has been confirmed. If Hov lands a new situation, this could certainly make him not just a power player in hip-hop, but the entertainment world.
In other news, congrats to Hov for buying out his own contract from Def Jam Records and owning the rights to his masters!

According to their site, PastryKicks.com, Vanessa was behind the plate and Angela threw the pitch. The cute duo was at the game representing the Girl Scouts of America.

Summer is here!! And you know what that means time to go to the beach, pool, Six Flags, and most importantly go see some GREAT movies, while staying cool. But with so many movies hitting theaters this summer you may not know what is a “Must See” and what is an “I’ll catch it on cable” movie. So TvN3rD is here to help.
MAY Releases:
May 1st- X-Men Origins: Wolverine- Starring Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber
This is the first (and inevitable) blockbuster release that sets off the summer movie season. Although this movie was leaked online weeks ago and plenty of bootleggers already made their money, there is no doubt that it will make millions upon its official release. The movie’s storyline basically gives you the background of how Logan became Wolverine and why he has this angry loner attitude about him. It also shows you how the rivalry between Wolverine and Sabertooth began and it FINALLY brings us an X-Men movie with Gambit, I don’t know about you but I think that appearance was long overdue. Well without giving too much away (I saw it online, sorry) I have to say that I would recommend this movie. It has something for everyone, whether you’re a Marvel Comics connoisseur or you just picked up your first comic book yesterday.
May 8th- STAR TREK- Starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto
This will undoubtedly have a great opening as well. The movie is based on the characters of the original television series. It is suppose to tell the back-story of how James T. Kirk became captain and how all the characters came to be aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise. No question all the Trekkies will be in line waiting to see if this reboot to the Star Trek franchise does justice to the television series and with the original Spock, Leonard Nimoy, making a guest appearance I’m guessing it won’t be a let down. And a release in IMAX won’t hurt either.
May 15th- Angels & Demons- Starring Tom Hanks, Ewan McGregor
The prequel to The Da Vinci Code was FINALLY made into a movie. Downside is that it will be told as a sequel. Hanks again reprises the role of World-Renowned Symbologist Professor Robert Langdon. Whose services are needed to help solve another religious themed mystery. The movie contains all the religious conspiracies as the first movie but with a little more science and will have a little more edge of your seat excitement. For those who read the book, I’m sure we will all leave the theater exclaiming “ The book was better!” as we did after The Da Vinci Code. Hopefully I’m wrong and the story will hold to a lot of the detail of the book. Guess we’ll find out. All skepticism aside I will be running to the theater to watch this movie regardless.
May 21st- Terminator Salvation- Starring Christian Bale, Sam Worthington
The fourth installment of the franchise sets off the Memorial Day Weekend a little early with its release slated for a Thursday instead of your typical Friday release. Bale plays a grown-up John Connor who must (again or still) go up against the evil computer network company Skynet. The movie is said to take place in the year 2018. It will no doubt be filled with a lot of CGI and some pretty cool sci-fi type pyrotechnics. I don’t know about you but I will go to see if Bale really over reacted during that web-leaked on-set Hollywood tantrum he threw. Did it make a difference in his acting? I don’t know but I’m willing to pay to find out. Who’s with me?
May 22nd- Dance Flick- Starring Damon Wayans Jr., Shawn Wayans
Keeping in line with Scary Movie the Wayans are back in this dance spoof comedy. Poking fun at Save the Last Dance and other dance flicks. This time around looks like it’s the younger generation of Wayans taking over. With Damon Jr. playing the lead, cousin Damien directing, and cousin Craig co-writing looks like the new Wayans crew have just about everything covered. And following so many previous action and drama filled weekends, it just might be a genius move to follow up with a comedy. Who else needs a laugh?
May 22nd- Night At The Museum: Battle of The Smithsonian- Starring Ben Stiller, Amy Adams, Hank Azaria, Robin Williams
The sequel to the $251 million grossing Night At The Museum finds Ben Stiller’s character now a guard at The Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. The Smithsonian is made up of 19 museums, which equals a whole lot more exhibits coming to life and a lot more comedy. Expect laughs, a little monkey business, a bad guy, and a romance with Amelia Earhart herself.
May 29th- Disney/Pixar’s Up- Voices of Ed Asner, Christopher Plummer
The movie is about a cranky, widowed former balloon salesman who with the help of thousands of balloons hooks his house up to fly so he can visit South America. With an accidental stow-away along for the ride it’s sure to be funny and another hit for Disney/Pixar. If you’ve seen the preview currently running in theaters, you seen the hilarious interaction with the dog and his talking collar. Hilarious!! Although I’m not exactly the target demographic, the kid in me is so siked to go see this movie in 3D. What’s you inner kid saying to you?
Stay tuned for the June update.
