stylEvolution: Donell Jones

By Souleo. From hip-hop inspired gear to sophisticated and highly stylized stage outfits, Donell has gone from one extreme to the other. Not only that but his physical state has also undergone several major changes. In this edition of stylEvolution, Donell reflects on his style and reveals what's led him to recently gain weight as he heads into the next evolution of his life and career.

This was a little thugged out kinda look. I was living here in New York at the time. So I definitely felt a lil' thuggish. Plus, I wasn't fat and I had a lil' muscle. No one wants to wear clothes when they looking right.

I had a lot of funk. I love this look right here. When I wear clothes like this it really changes my personality 'cause I know it's showtime, and I start to dress up. You could see the women in the audience licking their lips and s***.

My normal weight is 145-150 lbs. but I feel a little heavy right now. Have you seen Mariah Carey? I mean when you got good love you forget about everything else. That means you start eating good and not really thinking about nothing else. So I'm just being happy. I think I'm a cheeseburger away from fat. I'm about to go back in the gym heavy.

Donell Jones: Love Like This

September 29, 2010 / Posted in Interviews / Music
Tags: Donell Jones / Love Like This

By Souleo. If you want to know about love it's best to heed advice from someone who has been there and done that. When it comes to the various challenges related to love, Donell has been there and done most of those things more than once. That's why he's sharing his top 4 tips on how to attain and maintain a healthy relationship including keeping the past in the past, how he learned the hard way that you have to stay true to yourself, how his daughters inspired him to stop breaking hearts and why a stripper pole is a bedroom necessity. With these tips we will all want a "Love Like This."

Love Tip #1: Be Honest, But Not Too Honest

Be honest and be willing to share any and everything that your partner wants to know, except maybe something that was from your past before them. If I was in a past relationship with somebody else I wouldn't talk about that because that's none of her business. I'm moving forward with any and everything and I'll be open with that.

One of the hardest things for me to be honest about in a relationship was cheating. I got caught and you just got to come clean after that because if you keep trying to lie you're just digging yourself a deeper hole.

Love Tip #2: It's Got to be Real

Make sure you really love the person. If you're not in love with the person it doesn't make sense to commit to them. Me and my kids' mom went together for a long time before we realized we got into a relationship at a young age and we grew apart. We stayed together 5 more years after that just because I grew up with two parents, and I wanted my kids to have the same thing. But it doesn't make sense to do things like that because you're just hurting yourself, and the children.

Love Tip #3: Don't Break Hearts

Don't be a heart breaker in life. I used to break hearts. I would go out on the road, meet these women, promise them the world and never call them back again. I got in this business when I was 19 and when you're young everybody wants to have fun. I'm 37 now and I've learned how to become a man. At 29 I realized that I have 5 daughters growing up and eventually they're going to get to an age where somebody's going to want my daughters. So I have to be an example of what they should want.

Love Tip #4: Keep it Fun

Make sure you're with somebody you can have fun with. Me and my woman now pretty much do everything together. She's more like my homeboy, she's sophisticated and she got a little hood in her. She just all of that s*** wrapped in one, and I love her.

To spice up your relationship put a stripper pole in the bedroom. I see a lot of women doing that now. Dress up, role-play and have fun with it. Sex shouldn't be that serious all the time.

Donell Jones: Lyrics to Live By

September 28, 2010 / Posted in Music / Style
Tags:

By Souleo. With the right lyrics a singer is given the tools to tap into emotions and experiences that define our lives. Whether it's a line from Michael Jackson's "Lady In My Life," or from his new album released today, Lyrics, Donell Jones has a few favorite lines that he lives by. On day 2 of his "takeover," Donell shares how his top 3 lyrics of all time have helped him understand how to treat women, become comfortable with monogamy and avoid cheating.

Lyric: You will always be the lady in my life...

Song: "Lady In My Life"

Artist: Michael Jackson

It's just a beautifully written song because of the things that he was saying to a woman. It taught me how to treat a women and how to make a woman feel good through a song.

Lyric: We're the dark skin version of Brad & Angelina/But the opposite of Ike & Tina...

Song: "All About Sex"

Artist: Donell Jones

With that line I'm pretty much saying how beautiful Angelina [Jolie] & Brad Pitt's relationship is publicly and that we don't get into it like Ike & Tina do. That's something I'm living now with the relationship I'm in now. I love the girl to death. It's not about the sex with us. This is the first time for me since it's always been about the sex. I was a young dude but when you grow up and become a man, you start to realize that it's okay to have one woman.

Lyric: When you love someone you just don't treat them bad...

Song: "Where I Wanna Be"

Artist: Donell Jones

That was personal journey through my life. When you're an artist and you're on the road you see all these beautiful women coming towards you. So instead of cheating on my girl I said, 'I'm going to pursue this and I'm just going to leave us alone for right now.' I wasn't happy in the relationship but at the same time I was committed. So take the high road and get out of it [relationship] before you cheat because karma is a mother******.

The Questions: Donell Jones

September 27, 2010 / Posted in Interviews / Music / Style
Tags: Donell Jones

By Souleo. In R&B, sometimes it takes a veteran to remind the world of what a love song is supposed to do: transport you with one note, melody or lyric into your innermost emotions. For over 10 years singer-songwriter, Donell Jones has transported listeners and reminded us time and time again of what real love sounds like.

To celebrate the release of his new album, Lyrics, JimmyJazz.com is showing the love back with a full "takeover" week dedicated to Donell. During this week you'll get to explore Donell's wild side, his hard lessons learned in love, his stylEvolution, survival tales and more.

As always, we are kicking the series off with The Questions where Donell's answers reveal his "insane" side, transition into monogamy, tendency to have sex on the brain and more.

You'd be surprised to know...that I'm insane. I'm a Gemini so I'm a Gemini to the fullest.

The best advice I ever received...is to be original.

Never say never to...love.

The one thing about love I wish I knew earlier in life...not to be a heart breaker.

If one of my daughters wanted to date an R&B singer I'd say...hell no!

I became a better man when...I realized it's okay to have one woman.

The one word or phrase that best describes me...humble.

A perfect day for me is...sitting in front of a piano making music.

This is where I go for peace...my bedroom.

The one mistake I repeated twice in my life is...drinking.

I stopped trying to please others and be myself when

My biggest physical transformation...I'm a little heavy now so that's my biggest transformation. I'm fat.

When I'm alone I typically think about...sex.

JizzleJazzle's Horoscope September 24 - 30, 2010

September 24, 2010 / Posted in Horoscope
Tags: Horoscope / JizzleJazzle

Lawd hammercry, hammercry, hammercy! Say it ain't so. Oh Lawd! With news that Bishop Eddie Long may have been seducing young male members of his church and making them get on their knees for more than praise, we have truly got to reevaluate our spiritual cores this week. Judgment day after the jump.

Aries, Leo and Sagittarius:

Pride comes before the fall and your pride is falling faster than Lil' Kim's face when she misses her daily Botox injections. It's time to stop letting your pride get in the way of you becoming a better human being. Get on your knees and repent for your stubbornness, child. It's the only way you'll be let into the pearly gates. (I also hear bringing a bottle of wine may help your chances)

Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo:

You better stop using the lord's name in vain this week. Everything you say comes back to you tenfold. That is why you're gaining weight for calling others fat. You're feeling insecure for putting others down. And you're getting herpes well simply because you're a nasty freak.  Check yo'self.

Libra, Aquarius and Gemini:

You need to keep those hormones of yours in check this week because as the Ten Commandments state you shall not covet thy neighbor's wife, husband, jump-off, sidepiece, bust it baby.... okay, okay I added those last few in just so you get the point. Now keep your hands where they belong-resting on your holy scripture and not in between someone's thighs.

Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces:

You chant, you pray, you see psychics and spiritual advisers. You visit the synagogue and the mosque, and still you're more lost than a virgin at a brothel. If you're looking for the light it's within, somewhere hidden beneath that dark shady moody attitude of yours (hmph, you know I had to get a little dig in there).

I'm JizzleJazzle and remember don't be good, be fabulous.

Shanell: No Longer Afraid to Get Sexy

September 23, 2010 / Posted in Interviews / Music / Style
Tags: Drake / Lil’ Wayne / Nicki Minaj / Shanell

By Souleo. It's got to be hard, tight, sexy and provocative. I'm talking about the style of Young Money Entertainment's, Shanell. After answering a few questions, Shanell returns to JimmyJazz.com to talk her style. While she is now known for her tight shorts, leggings and edgy accessories, Shanell notes that it took her time to find comfort with displaying her body since she never wanted to be seen solely as a sex object.

"I used to be into the big and baggy look. I dressed that way because I hated the attention that women would get when they dressed really feminine. Whatever you tried to do whiter it be music or dancing a man seemed to look past your talent and look at you as a piece of meat," she said.

Finally she has reached a place where she doesn't care about how others perceive her thanks to the confidence and support of her Young Money team (Lil' Wayne, Drake and Nicki Minaj and others).

"Now I'm with a bunch of people that respect me for what I do and I'm comfortable. I don't have to fight to get respected or the right kind of attention anymore. Young Money is like a bunch of brothers and they won't let the wrong person say something crazy.

So now on stage I don't mind wearing whatever I want."

To get Shanell's bold urban meets rock'n'roll style check out her top 3 tips:

It's got to be hard:

I must have some kind of hardware whether it be the necklace or bracelets. I always have my nose ring. I love hardware like something that doesn't look like it belongs where it is.

Let your shoes do the talking:

I'm not a fan of the plain pump. It has to have some kind of funkiness to it with spikes or chains on them. They must come to my ankle too. I like shoes that look like if I wore nothing else but a shoe it would be okay. I think I will start making shoes since it's hard to find a shoe that says what I want it to say.

Look good underneath your clothes:

I have to have matching bra and panty sets. I buy underwear like every other day and a bunch of little sets. Once I can't find one to go with the other I start to lose it. I like when I'm changing and it's like an outfit under the outfit. I've had hardware on there too but those break.

A Bargain for Your Buck: Ne-Yo

September 22, 2010 / Posted in Music / Style
Tags: Adidas / Coogi / Levi's / Ne-Yo

By Souleo. w/assistance from Amanda In the 21st century it is no longer a stigma to be labeled a nerd, just ask singer-songwriter, Ne-Yo. While out shopping in New York City he was seen rocking a nerdy meets preppy look that is effortless, comfortable and stylish.

Ne-Yo's plaid shirt is all the rage this season as it can be dressed up or down quite easily. In this case we are going to take an orange Coogi plaid button down and dress it down for those easygoing days of fall:

Slim straight jeans are the perfect balance of a nice fit and loose comfort. These Levi's 541 jeans complement this relaxed look and you can even roll them up like Ne-Yo for some extra flair:

Finally, it's best to complete this ensemble by keeping the shoe game understated with these fresh white Adidas:

The Questions: Wacka Flocka

September 21, 2010 / Posted in Interviews / Music
Tags: Flockaveli / NBA / PS3 / Wacka Flocka

By Souleo. There are those known for their wise words, insightful comments and inspirational messages. Then there are the Wacka Flocka's of the world. Wacka Flocka has been known to make a few uhm, questionable remarks ever since he appeared on the scene with his hit "O Let's Do It." While promoting his forthcoming album, Flockaveli we put him to the test to see just how well he could answer our questions. Read on to find out the criticism that hurts him the most, why he wants to start changing up his urban clothing style, the only thing that can make him cut off his locks and more.

When I'm Bored I...grab the lab top, get a beat and just start writing a song.

If I were not rapping, I would...be in the NBA.

I need a girl who...could cook, clean and be independent.

In the morning I...jump on the PS3.

The one criticism about me that hurts the most is...people say I promote violence.

The one criticism I agree with the most is...about wearing certain colors. People say they like seeing me in different styles of my dress code and how I present myself. So I think I just want to work on that a lot.

I'm still trying to find the meaning of...true, humble, down to earth friends.

The main thing I learned from my mama is...always be real and a give a person an opportunity.

The only way I would cut off my hair is if...I caught cancer.

You'd be surprised to know...that Wacka Flocka is a good person and he always gives back.

The biggest misconception about me is...a lot of people think I'm arrogant, negative, and evil spirited. That ain't even me.

The one thing you can do without when it comes to the hood is...snitches.

You Said It…

September 20, 2010 / Posted in
Tags: Floyd Mayweather Jr. / Gabourey Sidibe / T.I. / You Said It

Rapper T.I. just can't get enough trouble; actress Gabourey Sidibe is at the center of a beauty controversy; another case of human trafficking sheds light on the state of contemporary slavery; boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr. may soon be fighting his way all over prison; and Black women everywhere can heave a sigh of relief after a woman's accusations are proven false.  Oh yeah, we got the juice.

T.I. Must Have a Thing For Jail Cells

After serving time for his 2009 gun possession conviction, going on a media tour of redemption and being placed on probation it appears that rapper, T.I. still hasn't learned a damn thing.  T.I. is now being ordered to appear before a judge after failing a drug test following his September, 1st bust for possession of marijuana, codeine and ecstasy.  The commenter below pretty much sumps up everyone's thoughts on T.I. at this point.

Gabourey Sidibe Just Can't Win

If Howard Stern isn't busy telling the world that she will never have a legitimate Hollywood career or if she isn't being ridiculed online for her weight then the hot topic when it comes to Gabby is her skin color.  Many are accusing the prestigious Elle magazine of lightening her skin to play into beauty standards.  I'm with the commenter below who thinks everyone should just chill out and appreciate the fact that Gabby broke barriers for women everywhere with this cover.

Ok let's be real people, Gabby Sidibe is a talented young woman; which is why she is gracing the cover of Elle. However they have a standard to maintain as a fashion magazine. Why are we criticizing the editorial choices made only to enhance her photo? They didn't lighten her skin, they gave her great lighting! As they should have. Given her size, Gabby's full body shots probably weren't as flattering as her close up. And this is the loveliest photo I've ever seen of her. Can't we just appreciate that?

Slavery Ain't Over Yet

They may not be in chains on a plantation but there are still victims of slavery in the U.S. and abroad.  Sophia Manuel, 41, and Alfonso Baldonado Jr., 45, pled guilty to conspiring to hold 39 Filipino workers against their will working in country clubs and hotels in the Florida city of Boca Raton.  The workers were placed in poor living conditions, worked for little or no pay and were threatened with serous economic harm and/or possible incarceration if they failed to comply with demands.  So here is some food for thought from the commenter below on the reality of slavery in modern times.

Don't worry. This will be commonplace with avg. American citizens in as many years. Once the plans are complete and the top 10% get 95% of the wealth we will truly have a modern serf/ slave culture just like the good old' days. You laugh, but look around......

Floyd Mayweather Jr. Has a Stormy Forecast Ahead

Things ain't looking too good for the popular boxer these days.  Following an alleged domestic incident with his baby mama in Las Vegas he is now being charged with felony counts of coercion, robbery and grand larceny, plus four misdemeanors.  If convicted of all charges he could end up behind bars for 28 years.  Yikes!  No one knows what to believe in this story except for the commenter below who seems to think it's another ploy to avoid fighting Manny Pacquiao a.k.a Pacman.

Have to hand it too him... it could really be another great excuse.... sorry pacman im in jail.... i have to hand it to him... the things he does just not to fight pacman... maybe he feels safer away for 28 years to protect his record....

Don't Blame it on a Sista

Bethany Storro has a lot of explaining to do.  Bethany has been proven a liar after creating a media firestorm and police hunt for a Black woman, whom she alleged threw acid in her face.  It's been revealed that she has a history of mental illness and made up the story, which led to many message boards being shut down due to racist messages aimed at Black women.  As the commenter below notes, Bethany may not be that crazy after all.

She wasn't that insane.  She knew to blame a black woman and had a damn good story to match...

JizzleJazzle's Horoscope September 17 - 24, 2010

September 17, 2010 / Posted in Horoscope
Tags: Horoscope / JizzleJazzle

Fashion Week may have come to a close but it's never too late for me to play fashion police.  This week I'm going in on ya'll that need to be locked up for disturbing the fashion peace.

Aries, Leo and Sagittarius:

Who's the one running the fashion game?  You are baby!  Naomi's catwalk is a limp compared to your hood swagger meets diva stride.  Tyra's one million ways to smile with your eyes doesn't compete with the smile of your butt crack peeking out above your low riders.  And Angelina Jolie's lips are nothing compared to the smackers known as your camel toe.  Now that's what I call class.

Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo:

Nope, the best accessory isn't always new underwear, a belt or bag.  Sometimes the only accessory you need is some surgery.  Now don't get me wrong I'm all about self-love which is why if you really love yourself you'll lift up that chin dragging on the floor, pack away those bags into storage and tuck that camel toe for dear life.

Libra, Aquarius and Gemini:

The devil does not wear Prada.  She actually wears Kmart, Marshall's and Target.  Yup, that's because the devil is you.  This week your attitude needs some readjusting because no matter how much you make a bargain bin item look like a million bucks, it don't mean a thing if you can't smile once in a while.

Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces:

It's time you stop reaching back into your closet going farther down memory lane than Naomi Campbell's hairline.  You're only pulling up long gone fashion statements that will not serve you in this day and age.  I swear for the last time, no one is rocking dickies.  Well maybe except for Kim Kardashian, but it's only because the name reminds her so much of the reason why she was placed on this earth.

I'm JizzleJazzle and remember don't be good, be fabulous.
