BET celebrates the best in black pop culture

The hottest stars came out for the BET Awards held on Sunday, and with Samuel L. Jackson as the host, the broadcast did not disappoint.

Stars came out dressed to the nines, and not many were surprised that Beyonce stole the show. The singer, who won for Best Female R&B Artist and Best Director, donned a lime green satin gown with a thigh-high slit to show off her gorgeous legs. The dress was cinched with a futuristic silver belt that put Beyonce's famous curves on display. Beyonce completed the look with nude leather sandals that did not take away from the dress.

Of course, there were plenty of other noteworthy fashionistas rocking the most glamorous women's urban clothes. Monica, who decided to be a bit more fashion-forward, arrived at the show in a new twist on the pantsuit. The singer rocked sparkly leggings and a textured blazer – both in a wine hue. The singer certainly moved for a sassier look with this ensemble, as she opted not to wear a shirt underneath the blazer, instead putting her cleavage on display. Monica completed the look with some open-toe black platform pumps and a maroon colored sparkly clutch.

For other ladies, the definite theme of the night was figure-hugging ensembles. Singer Michelle Williams and actress Angela Bassett both showed off their curves in clingy dresses. Additionally, Williams and Bassett chose to have black lace detail on their ensembles. The fabric outlined Williams' dress while Bassett's was covered in black lace to give her strapless garment some cap sleeves.

It wasn't all about the ladies on the red carpet, though. Kanye West may have dressed to impress his date for the evening, Kim Kardashian, by matching her all-white ensemble. West chose a white T-shirt with matching jeans and made sure to don the sneakers he recently designed.

West's collaborator Jay-Z, who is also the man behind Rocawear, made sure to complement his partner, opting for a gray suit but accentuating the look with patent leather white shoes and a white button-up, which he chose to wear without a tie. Those who want to emulate Jay-Z's fashionable sense of style should pick up Rocawear's Foreman SS shirt and matching Rocawear Sheik Roc sneakers.
