Biggie Smalls honored on skateboard
Biggie Smalls may be gone, but he certainly hasn't been forgotten. Now the famed rapper can be represented at skate parks around the nation, thanks in part to a new special edition skateboard with his face on it. Freshness Magazine reports the iconic hip hop legend's face is plastered on the bottom of Lafayette skateboards after the brand teamed up with famed photographer Jonathan Mannion.
Mannion has had a slew of famous clients including many who have passed away. He's hung out with Tupac, Aaliyah, Big Pun and Jam Master Jay to name a few. He was recently asked to share his photos with Lafayette, a Japanese brand, to turn his photos into skateboards.
HipHopWired website reports the photo captures Smalls in his prime - showing off his rings with some cameo graphics in the background. Limited edition T-shirts have also been created by the duo. The shirts use the same photo as the one on the deck, and have lyrics from his song "Unbelievable" written in. "Biggie Smalls is the Illest," and "Life from Bedford-Stuyvesant the livest one, representing BK to the Fullest," are the lyrics used on the tees.
