Bikini season may boast health benefits

The summer is fast approaching and that means it's time for ladies to step out of their winter garb in exchange for flirty shorts and the best in hip hop clothes. The best way to feel good in your own skin is to get a little color and a recent study finds high amounts of vitamin D may actually reduce breast cancer risks for African American women.

BET reports the study conducted by researchers from the Roswell Park Cancer Institute has found that black women who had high levels of vitamin D cut their breast cancer risk in half. However, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports close to one-third of African Americans are deficient in vitamin D intake. This may prompt more Black women to spend ample time outdoors in their most fashionable bikinis - though sunblock is still a must.

Picking out the best bathing suit for your body can be a challenge. Yahoo! recently broke down the best looks for ladies of all shapes. Women looking to leave a little to the imagination may want to show their curves in skirted or short bottoms.  Stars like Beyonce have been known to rock the skirt/short trend and this look works to cover the area below the derriere, making your booty look smaller and tighter. Apple Bottom is known for making bathing suits that work to enhance curvy women's' bodies and may be a good option this summer.

According to Yahoo! ladies can also look their best by choosing a dark colored bathing suit bottom. This will work to enhance the apple shape while also looking sassy. Feel free to pair the dark bottoms with a vibrant top as mix and match suits are going to be hot this summer.
