Busta, Kanye and Lil Wayne join forces
Here's a combination that you probably never thought you'd see in the hip hop world: Busta Rhymes, Kanye West and Lil Wayne. But the fierce trifecta finally decided to combine forces at Busta's urging.
According to MTV News, the rapper brought Kanye and Weezy together for a new track with the intention of reinforcing a common bond among the artists. The news source noted that at one point, Kanye and Drake weren't speaking, and Lil Wayne had a serious grudge against Pusha T, but "Thank You" is meant to put a stop to all of that bad blood.
"I just wanted to put it to bed and create an eventful moment where me and Wayne being Young Money/Cash Money on one team, Q-Tip and Kanye be on another movement on G.O.O.D. Music; just showing that camaraderie and that alliance and just making it official on a real hip-hop level," Busta explained to MTV.
He also reportedly capitalized on the fact that Lil Wayne and Kanye were in town for the MTV Music Video Awards and decided to shoot a music video for the single.
Still, this isn't the first time that Ye and Lil Wayne came together. According to Billboard, both rappers appeared on stage to support Drake at the 4th annual OVO Fest at Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto this summer.
"Before I leave the stage, can you make some noise for what this man has accomplished?... I'm happy to be a piece of this puzzle," Weezy told the crowd of 16,000, as quoted by the source.
