Coming to a theater near you: 'Yeezus'
Producer, rapper, fashion designer and entrepreneur are already roles that Kanye West has managed to fill, and now you can add filmmaker to the list. In an interview with Vice magazine, "American Psycho" writer Bret Easton Ellis revealed that he's working on a screenplay for an upcoming film based on Yeezy's latest album. So how did this collaboration come to be?
"He came and asked me to write the film," Ellis told the source. "I didn't want to at first. Then I listened to 'Yeezus.' It was early summer last year and I was driving in my car. He'd given me an advance copy and I thought, regardless of whether I'm right for this project, I want to work with whoever made this."
Ellis didn't have a lot of details on when we can expect to see the film, saying it's in "Kanyeland" and on a "whole other timeframe." Hopefully it won't be too far into the future, but Yeezy did promise to put another album out this summer.
Do you think Ellis is the right writer for the project?
