Could Carmelo Anthony be heading to LA?
Baller Carmelo Anthony has been a staple player on the New York Knicks for years, but come 2014, he could be calling a new city home. According to the Los Angeles Times, the L.A. Lakers are set to have a huge salary cap for the 2014 season, and many are gossiping the team has its sights set on Anthony.
The basketball star's contract with the Knicks ends this upcoming season, meaning he'll have the ability to move around the following year. One player who would be thrilled by the trade is current Lakers' star Kobe Bryant. The legendary baller discussed his desire to play with Anthony during an interview with Hoops World.
"I would actually like to play with Melo [Anthony]," Bryant told the news outlet back in 2011. "Championships are won on the inside and I'm always thinking about winning the title. I would love to play with Melo because I would know that I have an inside presence. That's really been the biggest strength with our Lakers team."
Whether or not Anthony will head to the West Coast is yet to be determined, but his wife, LaLa Anthony, might persuade him to look into any deals. The actress has to trek to L.A. frequently for gigs.
Do you think Anthony would go to the Lakers? Would you be sad to see him leave the Knicks?
