De La Soul Has Major Plans for 2014
Ask and you shall receive - at least when it comes to new music from De La Soul. After the hip hop group released their whole catalog for free last month, the feedback from fans was so overwhelming that they decided to produce some fresh material.
"[The response] motivated us even more," Dave "Plug 2" Jolicoeur told Billboard. "We're already in the process of recording two albums, but actually it made us feel like we really, really need to get this done. People are still fans, still really love the music and let's do it for them."
So what can we expect to hear? According to XXL magazine, each album will have a very different sound. While one will feature a live band, Los Angeles Rythym Roots Allstars, the other will be sample-based. Not only that, but De La Soul is also planning to drop a new mixtape with 11 songs before March is over.
Are you happy that the crew is back in the studio?
