Denzel Washington reigns supreme
Most movie enthusiasts can agree that Denzel Washington is one of the most influential actors of his generation. He has the ability to make audiences laugh, cry and feel scared all at the same time. Now it's been released that Washington's popularity resulted in huge sales at the box office, earning him the title of top money-making celebrity of 2012, according the Quigley Publishing Company's 81st Annual Poll of Motion Picture Exhibitors, BET reports.
The poll appears annually in the company's International Motion Picture Almanac and in the recent edition, it claims Washington played a major part in how many people went to the movies last year. In total, his films, including "Safe House" and "Flight," roped in larger audiences than any other actor.
Quigley Publishing's official website reports Anne Hathaway took the number two spot on the list, followed by Hugh Jackman, Mark Wahlberg and Johnny Depp, who rounded out the top five. Daniel Craig came in at number six followed by Daniel Day-Lewis, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert Downey Jr. at number 10. Washington has been on the list eight times throughout his career, though this is his first time earning the top spot.
