Drake performs a new track in Brooklyn
Drake has gotten some digs for the emotional nature of his songs from "Nothing Was The Same." So when he previewed a new song at the Barclays Center for his New York City tour, fans may have been caught off guard by the much tougher tone.
According to XXL magazine, Drizzy gave the audience a special treat when he launched into the Hit-Boy-produced "Trophies." Brass horns made for an unusual background to his decidedly edgier rhymes. It was the perfect night for him to preview the track, too, as the rapper was in celebration mode for his 27th birthday. Despite having a much different tone than Drake's typical songs, the audience erupted into enthusiastic applause.
The Source noted that "Trophies" didn't make the final cut on Drake's latest album.
Do you think it would have made "Nothing Was The Same" a more well-rounded LP?
