Dwyane Wade creates customized kicks

Dwyane Wade is best known for a few things - scoring points for his team the Miami Heat and dating the gorgeous Gabrielle Union. However, the basketball superstar recently revealed a different endeavor, designing high-end loafers for men.

CocoAndCream.com reports the basketball player just released a few of his fashionable footwear pieces from his collection and they may be different than fans might expect. One pair is made of red leather with black and white animal print, while another pair is made of pink suede with purple trim.

According to the news outlet, Wade got into the shoe making business after he had the company Del Toro create a few pairs of custom loafers for himself. Pictures of his unique shoes have been released and it's been reported that he's in the works to create his own line for the brand in the future, though this has yet to be confirmed. However, fans of Wade or his fashion-forward shoes won't find them in at any old sneaker store, as these kicks are in a league of their own price wise.

Wade spoke with GQ Magazine about his overall style off the court and how getting a stylist was a difficult transition.

"When we first started working together, she [stylist Calyann Barnett] was just trying to get the baggy jeans off me," Wade told the magazine. "I used to wear 2X and 3X shirts. Now I'm in a large."

Wade also admitted he took some flak from his teammates during the early stages of his style transformation. However, Pat Riley, his coach on the Miami Heat, is into fashion and would reassure him that he was looking good.

"Yeah, at first people were talking about me. But now everyone is wearing their clothes more fitted," Wade told the publication. "I've played for the Miami Heat my whole career under Pat Riley. Mr. GQ himself. So when I pick out my outfits before a game, I'm already feeling confident. And some of that swagger stays with me when I take the court."

The Huffington Post reports Wade's fashion sense is growing, as he will soon be featured in the June issue of Vogue Magazine. The photos, which have him wearing minimal clothing, were taken by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz. In the issue, Wade talks about his love of wearing clothes and always looking like a gentleman.
