Famous ladies lend their voices for change

The first ever Chime for Change concert to promote women empowerment worldwide took place at Twickenham rugby stadium in London June 2. According to The Associated Press, the star-studded event brought out big-name women including Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Mary J. Blige, Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine, Jessie J, Madonna and Rita Ora among others.

Bey was more than just a performer, she was a co-founder of the event alongside actress and producer Salma Hayek Pinault and Gucci creative director, Frida Gianini. The three powerful women teamed up with organizations like UNICEF, the Global Fund for Women and Plan International to spread awareness of the issues women face worldwide and more importantly, to help people around the globe learn how to lend a hand.

There was even a royal surprise. Prince Harry might not have attended the concert, but he sent in a video message declaring his support for women's rights and equality for all.

Though the special event was female-dominated, crooners like John Legend also sang for the cause, while Bey's hubby, Jay-Z, surprised the audience when he took the stage with his wife during their song, "Crazy in Love," according to MTV News.

Did you watch the benefit concert? Did you support the cause?
