High school reunion: Air Jordan 1 Retro High "Laney"
Michael Jordan has sported the colors of both the Chicago Bulls and the Washington Wizards, but he got his footing on the court with a whole different palette. Long before he was drafted by the NBA, Jordan tried out for a small team at Emsley A. Laney High School in Wilmington, N.C. At 5'11, though, he was told he was too short to play above a JV level. So what did MJ do? After growing 4 inches the following summer and training like a maniac, he proved everyone wrong and snagged a spot on the varsity roster.
It makes sense that the latest Air Jordan 5 "Laney" was inspired by his original team's colors. If you didn't snag a pair, though, you didn't miss out - these kicks have been made over with an even bolder Varsity Maize and Game Royal colorway for the Air Jordan 1 Retro High. Tumbled leather meets soft suede in perfect harmony, along with a high contrast stark white midsole, the iconic Jordan Wings on the ankle and OG Nike Air tagging on the tongue.
What do you think - are these retros more fly than the 5s?
