Hip hop stars seen rocking suits
Many within the hip hop industry are trading in their Rocawear jeans in exchange for classy and polished suits. Big name artists like Usher, Ne-Yo, Jay-Z and Kanye West have been seen dressing to the nines as of late and it seems like ladies are taking notice.
EBONY Magazine reports these hip hop heavyweights aren't going to their local department stores to pick up suits, instead these men are getting their pieces custom-made to fit both their bodies and their individual personalities. Although most people aren't able to afford such expensive luxury items, there are certain trends that men may want to try on for size.
A great way to look stylish and put together is to rock a two-button blazer. Paired with jeans, black pants or khakis, a fitted jacket shows a person understands style. For spring and summer, find a linen or cotton jacket to wear to an all-white party or clubbing in the city. During the colder months feel free to experiment with suede, velvet and other more luxurious fabrics. Slim trousers and patterned vests are also making a comeback on the runways this season.
Although these styles are making their way as mainstream hip hop clothes and fashion, artist Ne-Yo recently spoke about how his fashion choices did not always make him popular. The soulful singer told The Chicago Tribune that his ensembles in high school made him "the outcast weird guy."
"A fashion icon, if he knows what he’s doing, can rock a t-shirt and jeans and get away with it," Ne-Yo told the publication. "I can wear a t-shirt and jeans and be just as much of a gentleman that way as I can in a pinstripe three-piece."
