Anotine "Fats" Domino (February 26,1928-Present)

Rhythm & Blues and Rock & Roll Pianist

Singer/Song Writer

Happy Birthday, Fats Domino!

Fats Domino is a musician who took the country by storm when he came onto the scene back in the 50's. Before 1955, he had already released 5 gold records (albums selling 1 million or more copies). He was also extremely successful by producing 35 top 40 American hits based on traditional rhythm and blues.  His first true national recognition was in 1950 when signed to Imperial Records, with his hit "The Fat Man," with co-producer Dave Bartholomew.  Many people even refer to it as one of the first ever real rock & roll records, which deemed him a pioneer of music for obvious reasons.  He appeared on the Ed Sullivan show in 1956 where he sang "Blueberry Hill" and played accompanying piano.

"I want you to take me / Where I belong / Where hearts have been broken / With a kiss and a song" - Fats Domino, lyrics from "Valley of Tears"
