In Honor of Black History Month: Beyonce and Jay-Z

Beyonce Knowles-Carter (1981-Present)

Singer / Actress

Shawn Corey Carter (Stage name: Jay Z; 1969-Present)

Rapper / Record Producer / Recording Artist / Entrepreneur

Together, Beyonce and Jay Z are a power couple who have not only knocked down-but busted through barriers in the music industry.  Mr. Carter is currently one of the most successful hip hop artists in the nation and his wife, who started out in the group Destiny's Child before going solo, is a Grammy-winning, Golden Globe nominated phenomenon.  Some of Beyonce's solo hits include, "Crazy In Love," and "Baby Boy," and her husband (head of Roc-A-Fella Records), has well known hits such as "It's a Hard Knock Life," "Takeover," "99 Problems, and "Dirt Off Your Shoulder." Her stage presence coupled with his widely recognized "voice of the people" resonate with the public, hence sky-rocketing the pair to stardom.  They will continue to thrive on sheer talent and savvy business sense, not to mention their immense, energetic fan base. They have a daughter named Blue-Ivy together and to think they still accomplish this kind of life while parenting is truly a feat in itself.

"I wanted to sell a million records, and I sold a million records. I wanted to go platinum; I went platinum. I've been working nonstop since I was 15. I don't even know how to chill out." - Beyonce Knowles

"I'm hungry for knowledge. The whole thing is to learn every day, to get brighter and brighter. That's what this world is about. You look at someone like Gandhi, and he glowed. Martin Luther King glowed. Muhammad Ali glows. I think that's from being bright all the time, and trying to be brighter." - Jay Z
