In Honor of Black History Month: Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson (1958-2009)

Singer / Songwriter / Dancer / Fashion Icon / Humanitarian

"The King of Pop"

Known the world over as the greatest entertainer of all time, Michael Jackson was nothing short of a spectacle to see.  Even the great stars that came before him and mentored him never seemed to reach the super-star status that he achieved in his gone-too-soon lifetime. As the perfector of the infamous, "Moonwalk," Michael was influenced by Jackie Wilson and James Brown (to name a few), and his natural talent sky rocketed him to success since an extremely early age.  This musical phenomenon needed no voice lessons either.  He was a pioneer for making "short films" instead of the usual short music video, which we see by the lengths of videos like "Thriller," "Bad," "Smooth Criminal," and countless others. He overcame all obstacles in the media, but unfortunately it left a lasting mark on his heart and for the remainder of his adult life he was not quite the same, ending in his tragic death on June 25, 2009. From his humble beginnings in Gary Indiana to his worldwide super-stardom, his message was clear: Peace and love to everyone in the world.

"Let us dream of tomorrow where we can truly love from the soul, and know love as the ultimate truth at the heart of all creation." - Michael Jackson
