Jay-Z opens Barclay Center with a bang
The Barclay Center, which will serve as the home of the Brooklyn Nets this season, was recently unveiled with a killer performance by Nets part owner Jay-Z. Hypebeast reports Jay got fans of the building, basketball and his music pumped up during the sold-out show he put on.
Jay got a few perks for being part owner, including having his own custom-made "Carter" jersey that he wore during the opening show, along with a throwback Nets cap. Not to seem like a superfan, Jay reportedly classed up his look rocking an all black alligator hoodie that was both fashion forward and street-appropriate.
Having the Nets moved from New Jersey to Brooklyn is the ultimate dream come true for Jay, the Associated Press reports. The rapper and mogul opened up about how this event proves that American dreams are real and that people can achieve their goals in life with hard work and dedication.
"Yeah I think I'm the American dream," Jay told the news source. "That whole thing that you could come here and pull yourself up by the bootstraps, like that whole thing what America has always put up to the world that we represent. I feel that. Yes, I’ve lived that."
