Jay-Z signs deal with Yankees
It seems as though Jay-Z has really made it in the fashion industry as the Rocawear creator recently signed a deal with the New York Yankees. Vibe Magazine reports for the 2012 season, Rocawear signs will be displayed in Yankee Stadium as well as in promotional ads throughout the MLB season.
Jameel Spencer, EVP of marketing for Iconix brand Group, Inc.'s men's division recently spoke about the new partnership.
"Jay-Z has been a long-time fan of the Yankees, regularly attends games and has even included his favorite team in song lyrics, so this was a natural partnership," Spencer said in a press release, according to Vibe. "Rocawear, along with Jay-Z are very excited to be working with the Yankees for the 2012 season. We feel another championship in '12!"
SportsProMedia.com, this is actually the second time Jay has teamed up with the Yankees. The mogul penned a deal with the clubhouse back in 2010 to produce a "limited edition clothing line to promote both the team and the rapper's Blueprint 3 album."
Jay must love sports teams, as he is also a part owner of the New Jersey Nets NBA team.
