Jay-Z triumphs in his quest for the Holy Grail
Here's a simple lesson in mathematics: Jay-Z + Justin Timberlake = tunes that are the artistic equivalent of TNT.
According to The Source, the lead single on Jay-Z's album "Magna Carta Holy Grail" has finally gone platinum - but the rapper is no stranger to the status. When he joined forces with JT for "Suit & Tie," the duo's single reached the platinum level multiple times.
Still, selling a million records is just par for the course for Jay. He's been up to a lot more than laying down hit tracks, including planning his second annual "Made in America" festival on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1. Hot New Hip Hop noted that Nine Inch Nails, Empire of the Sun, Wiz Khalifa, Macklemore, Ryan Lewis and Jay's wife Beyonce are just a few of the artists that will be taking the stage at Philadelphia's Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The following week, famous director Ron Howard will screen his documentary about last year's gathering at the Toronto Film Festival on Sept. 7. The film gives viewers an inside look with exclusive interviews, backstage footage and even personal accounts from Jay-Z himself.
"As seen through Howard's affectionate gaze, Made in America is a love letter not only to Jay-Z and his unique project, but also to the city of Philadelphia," said the Toronto Film Festival, according to the source. "Don't miss this invigorating documentary - and a conversation with one great artist about witnessing the fulfillment of another's dream."
