Jay-Z's going back to his roots
Even though Jay-Z has proved time and again that he's pretty much good at everything - running a successful clothing line, rejuvenating a basketball team and starting a sports agency, to name a few - the Brooklyn native is ready to get back to his first love - music.
According to BET, the legendary MC will drop his latest album, "Magna Carta Holy Grail," first July 4 to Samsung Galaxy owners and then July 7 to the general public. Hov made the announcement during a, you guessed it, Samsung commercial that aired at the halftime of the NBA Finals June 16.
As for what the record will sound like, the rapper opened up about creating a new sound that fits his life in this moment with the help of fellow MCs and producers like Timbaland, Pharrell and Swizz Beatz.
"The album is about, like, this duality of how do you navigate through this whole thing, through success, through failures, through all this and remain yourself," Jay shares in the three-minute commercial, according to USA Today.
No news on whether or not wife Beyonce will lend her voice on the upcoming CD, Hov's 12th studio album to date, has been announced.
