By Souleo. Josh Milan made a name for himself by becoming one of house music's most successful artists with his band, Blaze. Their music is known for its deep spiritual, gospel, soul and Afrobeat influences with positive lyrics. Josh aims to now carry on that tradition as CEO of his new label, Honey Comb Music after realizing that today's music scene is lacking enough constructive messages for today's youth.

"I hate to call names but Lil' Wayne is great but I don't want my children singing his songs because they won't edify my child's life. I haven't heard anything positive in his music at all that really speaks to our children where they are and how they can better themselves. He's a hero for going to jail especially with the gangster thing and I won't accept that. Do we really want that for our kids?"
Lil' Wayne isn't the only rap star whose music and influence Josh is concerned about. After witnessing the wild behavior of fans at Detroit's recent Summer Jam concert he is convinced that there needs to be greater responsibility across the board.
"I was in Detroit recently and they had Summer Jam. Stars like Lloyd Banks and Trina were in the same hotel as me. These teenagers were there willing to do whatever these artists told them to do. This is our children doing God knows what. So I do feel a responsibility as an artist and executive to put out positive music about everyday situations," he said.
To meet that goal Honey Comb Music's first release will be a compilation CD featuring eight artists, all performing songs written and produced by Josh. Featured on the set are ChinahBlac, Sandra St. Victor, Lamone, Honey Sweet, Don Corey Washington, T'zelle, Crystal Johnson and Alexis P. Suter.

Speaking from a young male adult perspective, I feel that what Josh is saying is totally true, Lil Wayne should not be called a "Hero", nor is the best rapper. His music doesn't even inspire, it just motivates them to do the wrong things, and then he's not even going to jail for a long time, and when he gets back out, most likely he wont learn his lesson, thats why these little hooligans aren't scared of jail or how it affects them.

Yeahh, so if that were the case, we should just remove all RAPPERs bc they send out bad messages, but oh WAIT, all the R&B artists, lets throw them in there too bc they all sing about sex & we don't know everyone ***** now would we ? -Catch my drift ?-

reading some of yall comments, i hear how ignorant and foolish yall sound!! the man specifically said he dont want his kids singing his songs b/c they wont edify them, particularly in a positive manner. kids can memorize lyrics to "Get Low (Aww Skeet Skeet!!)" LMAO but cant memorize the things they need to know in a classroom. its crazy to see how the world is so wrapped up in the entertainment media when theres things going on in the real world that need to be focused on. little girls who like nicki minaj think its alrite to get syringes shot in their ass to make their rears appear bigger and weave & wigs on their head full of beautiful natural hair. what is it really teaching?!! dont get me wrong im a true wayne fan. i have every last one of his albums dating back to his very first "the block is hot" when he was just as hungry as the young dude doing intern work at the local radio station, but i know when to draw the line between entertainment and whats real out here. and now a days music has no substance but sex & drugs and u see how the avg. age of teen pregnancy has grown and lowered in age. i think its new orleans or sumthin whos avg. age of pregnancy is "16"!!!!! dats sad.. im only 20 myself, in school, no kids, but i have lil brothers and sisters who i see are influenced by dis bull*****. so yall take it how yall wanna, but as i see those of yall who just lashed out on dude talking bout he's a hater, minds are already corrupted. get off the internet, pick up a book!!!

i love lil wayne, but i gotta say i entirely agree with what josh is saying. The hip-hop community doesnt have enough positive influence. we wonder why girls 14-17 are getting pregnant.. turn on the radio, i mean have you seen ciara in the ride it video? young girls idolize her and take what she says seriously even if shes only doing it for entertainment purpsoses. lil wayne and artists like him are constantly talking about guns, sex, and drugs, then we wonder why the street looks the way it does, i know its hard out there but maybe if we actually had an intelligent, positive influence things could start looking up. keep it up josh and dont let the HATERSSSS bring you down.

@Num1Hotboy: I truly agree with you 100% and i feel the exact same way.
I think that the music we listen is also very influential on our black community and it has affected us in a negative perspective and thats real talk. They can remember every lyric to a rap song, but cant even graduate high school nor make it to college.

Josh is 100% correct! It's a shame how ignorant our people are and have become. I don't care what you think, what u see & hear has a major influence on what you do. Like it or not that's reality! Our black people has sold us out for a $ and it's more to life than making $. The use of the N word, all the bumpin' & grindin' like we ain't go no sense, glorifying pimps & whores is ridiculous! Our ancestors fought long & hard to prove to other races that we as a people are more than just sex objects and that we have a mind and want more, that we're not n's, we upstanding etc. but look what we've become! It's sad. A shame & a sin. I'm no hater, I'm sincere.
