This just in: Sneakers from space have landed
One look at these kicks and you'd think they were a shattered fragment that had fallen from the inner solar system. While this style is no longer going to be called the Air Foamposite Pro "Asteroid," the former name definitely fit. Still, sneakerheads are no doubt thrilled that the missing link has landed from Nike's previously top secret Area 72 Collection, which launched during the NBA All-Star Game earlier this year.
With a multicolored translucent outsole, an asteroid-inspired graphic that resembles solar debris and a placket laces system that's black as the night sky, this Foamposite edition offers up a slick and spacey take on the popular silhouette. Naturally, the usual nubuck eyestay, carbon fiber shank and mesh inner sleeve bring the sneakers back to earth. Also in this pack is an equally bold pair of Air Force 1s, which feature a jet black upper and the same trippy solar pattern on the outsole and signature swoosh.
Of course, these sneakers wouldn't be complete without a matching New Era Chicago Blackhawks snapback in coordinating colors. It's a JJ exclusive, so don't bother looking anywhere else for this instant classic. Then grab your foamposites on Dec. 20, when they touch down on the Jimmy Jazz website and in stores.
The fact is, asteroids are rarely visible from Earth to the naked eye. So you'll probably want to cop these before they're gone.
So, has the Area 72 collection fulfilled your footwear fantasies?
