Kanye West walks the line between hip hop and high fashion
Kanye West has had his ups and downs within the hip hop industry. However, his love for fashion has helped him maintain an ever-evolving style that keeps fans interested. Gone are the days when West perfected the casual look, wearing rocawear and hitting up sneaker stores while playing a behind-the-scenes role as a famed producer. Now, its all flashy suits, fitted jeans and statement pieces in his wardrobe.
Ebony Magazine reports that like West's popular albums growing more successful than the next, his looks have gone from that of a street-cred rapper to Mr. Dapper.
West's ego has grown along with his fashion sense and West recently debuted his women's clothing collection during Paris Fashion Week. Although many critics gave out harsh reviews on his looks, West fired back, claiming he is still simply honing in on his craft as a designer, The New York Post reports.
According to the news outlet, West wrote this explanation on his personal blog. "This is my first collection. Please be easy. Please give me a chance to grow," West wrote. "This is not some celebrity [expletive.]"
West may be better off wearing hip hop clothes and sticking to rhymes rather than creating fashion lines. Or at the very least, he may want to try to pick up some pointers from friend and successful clothing brand owner Jay-Z.
