L.A. Reid is done with "The X Factor"
Record executive L.A. Reid has been in the music business for decades and for the past two seasons, he's also given countless raw talents a chance at stardom while acting as a judge on "The X Factor" in the United States. Despite the solid ratings, Reid recently announced he'll be stepping down as a judge on the reality TV series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Reid admitted much of his decision had to do with getting back to what he is truly passionate about, helping stars on his label, Epic Records, make it big. Even though he's excited to get back to business, he said he's sad to leave the show.
"I have the utmost respect for [X Factor creator] Simon Cowell," Reid told the news source. "He is the very best, and I have [had] the opportunity to learn so much from him. Working with him on 'X Factor' has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I'm honored to have sat on the panel with such incredible talent."
The Associated Press reports Reid left his job as chairman and CEO of Island Def Jam Music Group in 2011 in order to take over at Epic. In his two positions, he's helped launch and shape the careers of talent like Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Ciara and Sade.
