June 6, 2012NewsComments

The Last Taboo: LGBT Hip Hop Cypher 1.0 Presented by the NYPL and Souleo Enterprises LLC

On June 4, 2012 at Tompkins Square Library, cultural critic, Greg Tate, and CEO of Digiwaxx Media, Corey "CL" Llewellyn, were joined by LGBT talent, including award winning electro and hip-hop artist, Baron, and Baltimore's openly gay lyricist, Go DDm to discuss the challenges faced by the LGBT community as they aim to rebel against stereotypes, challenge gender norms and expand the hip-hop genre. DJ Baker, creator/producer/host of Da Doo-Dirty Show, currently the longest running LGBT-geared daily urban syndicated radio program, moderated the conversation.

The panel concluded with a hip-hop cypher featuring Baron, Go DDm, straight ally and MC, Queen Godis and host, Swanny River. So listen up 'cause this is the last taboo.
