Lenny Kravitz to play Marvin Gaye
Soulful crooner Marvin Gaye came up with some of the best songs for getting people in the mood and for encouraging brotherly love throughout his long-lasting career. Now, his amazing life story is going to be told on the big screen and it's been officially announced singer and actor Lenny Kravitz will be playing the legendary performer.
Deadline.com reports Kravitz will be taking the stage under the direction of famed rock documentarian Julien Temple. The biopic will be called "Sexual Healing." Temple's take on the legendary musician will focus on the time in his career when he was making the album "Midnight Love," in which he battled a drug addiction. This is reportedly the time in his life when fans and people in the music industry were calling him a "wash up."
The album, recorded in the 1980s, was created in an attempt to restart Gaye's career, but that dream was short lived, The Associated Press reports. Gaye tragically died in 1984 from gunshot wounds inflicted by his father. The biopic is set to begin shooting in early 2013.
Do you think Kravitz is the right person to play Gaye? Do you want to see a film based on his life?
