Love and Hip Hop ATL Premiers Tonight On VH1
The ratchetness will be televised! Tonight, the premiere of Love and Hip Hop ATL airs on VH1 and it looks like the cast has turned it up times ten in its third season. The most controversial topic the show has ever been entangled in comes courtesy of Mimi Faust and her boyfriend Nikko. The couple’s sex tape has been all the talk since the news of its release surfaced online. Explicit clips of their “home video” dropped along with the show’s own trailer a few weeks ago, raising the anticipation level for the show and sparking a plethora of shower curtain rod memes on Instagram and Twitter.
VH1 released a sneak peek of the show on its blog last week, and the sex tape seems to be at the forefront of the first episode. “Let me ask you ladies. Have you ever made a sex tape?” Mimi asks her friends Erica and Ariane, who both play on camera like they are shocked and nervous for their friend. “What if it got into the wrong hands? What if y’all break up?” asks Erica.
The wrong hands, as most of the audience is already aware, will eventually be Vivid Entertainment, the porno conglomerate responsible for the Kim Kardashian/Ray J sex tape that made major headlines back in 2007. According to the show’s supertrailer, Mimi and Nikko will meet the head of Vivid to close a deal for their sex tape, the one the couple has said landed in Vivid’s hands after their luggage turned up missing while they were on vacation. How convenient. Over the last couple of weeks, the couple has been heavily promoting the show and their sex tape, doing interviews online and on the radio. Earlier today, Mimi appeared on NYC’s Hot 97 morning show.
Tune in to watch as the story unfolds as its already been causing friction among the cast (Mimi’s ex Stevie J. and his new bride Joseline posted their own shower curtain photo to Instagram, and Erica has referred to Mimi as “not the brightest when it comes to men”). Plus, check back with us to see if VH1 and Love and Hip Hop ATL reap the benefit of this unprecedented buzz in their ratings, which could set a new record for the show.
