Mary J. Blige gets real in pages of Vibe
R&B diva Mary J. Blige has been cranking out heartfelt songs since her debut in 1992. Throughout her longstanding career, Blige has made an effort to evolve as both an artist and a person. She recently opened up about her evolution during an interview with Vibe magazine for its February-March edition.Â
Even though her personal life has changed for the better, many of her fans might be more interested in learning how her fashion sense has developed over time. Blige was known for rocking harder looks like jeans and Timbs back in the day, but has since discovered her more feminine side.Â
Blige admitted she feels beautiful "when I'm made up and dressed up and my heart is in the right place..." according to Vibe. "I'm not going to lie and say I feel beautiful when I have on a hair scarf and I'm running to the gym. I feel confident, but beautiful? No."
The Miami Herald reports fashion and music aren't the only things Blige is excited about these days. Most recently, she landed a dream acting role, playing Betty Shabazz, the wife of Malcolm X, in a new Lifetime movie called "Betty and Coretta." The film details the lives of the women behind the civil rights movements - Shabazz and Martin Luther King Jr.'s wife Coretta Scott King.
