Mary J. Blige may be working on a fashion line
Mary J. Blige is certainly living life to the fullest these days, not only will she be headlining the 2012 Essence Music Festival in New Orleans this summer, but she recently announced she's in the works to create a new fashion line. Blige revealed to Women's Wear Daily that she's currently "brainstorming" on a new line of hip hop clothes and women's urban clothes.
The Huffington Post reports the singer spoke of her intentions when she was in China for Armani's "One Night Only in Beijing" fashion show. Blige plans to start slow with the collection, beginning with shoes and boots for women. She'll then branch out into jeans and tops, hoping to offer "great-fitting jeans" to women of all shapes and sizes.
Looking at Blige's own personal style, it seems that there will certainly be some ultra high leather boots, and plenty of tight fitting gowns to show off ladies fabulous curves.
This isn't the first time Blige has tried her hand in the fashion world. Stylist.com reports Blige teamed up with designer Catherine Malandrino back in 2010 to launch a charitable T-shirt line. The shirts had different phrases from Blige's songs on them meant to empower women. Phrases like "I'm Love" and "I'm Power" were included.
Blige has already had some success in the world of retail with her two fragrances My Life and My Life Blossom, which she sells on the Home Shopping Network and in department stores across the nation, Lucky Magazine reports.
The magazine reports the scents are floral-heavy and can be compared to the likes of Marc Jacobs' Lola or Burberry's Body.
Ladies who want to dress like this soulful diva should purchase the Apple Bottoms Jumpsuit to show off their curves.
