Meagan Good, one of the lead actresses in the smash hit, "Think Like a Man," has been in a variety of films playing both the girlfriend and the wife. However, the actress will soon be transforming her work into real life as she is set to marry longtime boyfriend DeVon Franklin, Global Grind reports.
According to the source, Good was in complete shock when Franklin, a Sony executive, popped the question.
"I drew a complete blank. Because I had no idea what was going on and it took me a moment to figure out what was even going on in the moment," Good told the news source on the engagement. "Once I realized what was going on, my whole brain just shut down. It just went into complete shock. I heard half of what he was saying but there was a whole portion of it that was like a black hole of shock and emotion. Wow, this is really happening right now. It’s kind of a surreal moment. It's like you're in an alternate universe."
BET reports the couple have known each other for years, but started dating shortly after wrapping the film "Jumping the Broom," which Good starred in and Franklin produced.
Good recently sat down with Rolling Out Magazine to discuss what she hopes marriage will do for the public's perception of her. Good admits it's not always easy playing the sexy girl in cool women's urban clothes, as many people feel the characters she plays on screen emulates who she is in real life. She opened up a few months ago that she was going to remain celibate until marriage, and her critics called her out on it, hurting her feelings.
"I said that, from here on out I am going to be completely celibate and people laughed at me," Good told the magazine. "They said 'yeah right, she can't do that … who is she trying to fool?' So it was hurtful that so many people mocked me, based on opinions of people that have never met me a day in their life because they didn't believe that’s who I really was."
For now, Good is keeping the negative vibes out and is instead focusing on her upcoming nuptials to the man of her dreams. She also told Rolling Out she's excited to get the word out on her music group, The H.E.L.L.O. Girls. The all-girl group is currently hitting the studios to record their first album.
