Muhammad Ali goes high fashion
Muhammad Ali is known for being able to "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee," but his recent gig is a little more fashion and a little less fighting. BET reports the 70-year-old retired boxing great will be featured in the new Louis Vuitton "Core Values" ad campaign.
According to the news outlet, Ali was photographed at his home in Phoenix, Arizona, and poses with his grandson Curtis Muhammad Conway Jr., 3, in the shots. Famed photographer Annie Leibovitz took the photos in which Ali is sitting in a dark ensemble while his grandson rocks a more hip hop clothes look, in jeans, a white tank top and a pair of boxing gloves.
Ali's wife, Lonnie, reports to BET that Ali asked for his grandson to share the spotlight with him in the news ads.
"The two share a special bond," Lonnie told the publication. "Of all the grandchildren, C.J. looks the most like Muhammad. And he even acts like him."
The Wall Street Journal reports the print ads will launch on June 14 and will run in magazines and newspapers in 60 countries. The company has been focusing on ads featuring "iconic individuals whose lives can be seen as extraordinary journeys" since 2007.
