Petals-N-Belles fundraising event brings out celebs for a good cause
A recent charity event hosted by Petals-N-Belles brought out the best in fashion-forward ensembles while preaching an important message for young women. Essence Magazine reports the group, which works to "inspire, mentor and empower" young women, hosted the party this past week to celebrate its first anniversary.
According to the magazine, ladies from the hip hop and acting world came out to show their support for the worthy organization. BET's own Rocsi Diaz was on hand, as well as singer Chrisette Michele and jewelry designer Alisha Pean.
VibeVixen.com reports that more than $10,000 was raised to put toward the programs run by Petals-N-Belles. Founder Damali Elliot expressed her gratitude for those who came in their best women's urban clothes to support the countless young ladies she aims to help.
"It has been amazing to see our girls make small changes, just within this first year, that will make a huge impact on their future," Elliot told the crowd during the event. "We hold ourselves and each Petals-N-Belles mentee accountable to dream and plan BIG. We instill in our girls the idea that their future is as limitless as their imagination, and through our programming and their own action, it will become boundless!"
