Red Bull racing hits the streets of NYC
Red Bull is famous for its "Red Bull Gives You Wings," motto, but it's the company's racing skills that have gotten it more press as of late. Hypebeast reports Red Bull Racing's Formula One team has had a history of showcasing their newest racing cars on the busy streets of bustling cities from Hong Kong to New Delhi. But this time, the team decided to show off at home.
During the most recent stunt, driver David Coulthard took the streets of New York City in the latest RB7 race car. Coulthard put the pedal to the metal hitting speeds of 190 miles per hour through Lincoln Tunnel and elsewhere around the city. It's probably the first and last time the driver will be able to hit such speeds in the congested city.
CNN reports the joy ride continued to Liberty State Park, where Coulthard performed a special rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner" by revving the race car's engine. The stunt was reportedly performed to help the sport gain more popularity around the nation. New York City was just one stop on Red Bull's American Vacation tour in promotion of the proposed 2013 Grand Prix of America.
