Snoop adopts new moniker for funk album
Snoop is serious about his transition from hip hop into funk music - so much so that the West Coast rapper has changed his name once again. With the release of "7 Days of Funk" Dec.10, the artist formerly named Snoop Lion will henceforth be known as Snoopzilla.
According to Hot New Hip Hop, the funk icon Bootsy Collins - who often went by Bootzilla - was the inspiration behind his new moniker.
"I've had funk influences in my music my whole career," he said, as quoted by the news source.
Not only is he revamping his image and his stage name, but he's also garnered a new partner in the studio. Complex magazine reported that he's joining forces with Dam-Funk for the album, which is being released by Stones Throw Records. Already, the duo has released one single from the LP called "Faden Away."
