Two rap acts nominated for Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

The hip hop community just got a huge honor: N.W.A and LL Cool J have been nominated for spots in the 2014 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

A total of 16 artists were nominated, and the competition is stiff. In addition to LL and N.W.A., the original LA-bred gangsta rappers, are legendary acts like Hall and Oates, KISS, Nirvana and Cat Stevens. The Source noted that though N.W.A. has gotten a nod from the Hall of Fame before, this is LL Cool J's first time.

Clearly, nominees span across a range of genres - but the honor only goes to performers who have had a major influence on rock 'n' roll. Though a panel of music industry experts will be choosing who's inducted, fans can still cast their vote through Dec. 10. The ceremony will be held in April, but won't be televised until April of next year on HBO.

Check out the full list of nominees here. So who would you pick?
