Wendy Williams gets real

Talk show host Wendy Williams is known for her outrageous hair, makeup and women's urban clothes that she struts around in on camera, but XO Jane Magazine recently got a glimpse at the softer side of the diva. However, don't expect to see the stripped down version of Williams again anytime soon, as during the shoot she opened up about her love of fashion and all things over the top.

According to the news outlet, the shoot was meant to give her a more "honest" look. Williams wore a soft turtleneck, a white t-shirt and jeans for the photos, while her makeup consisted of foundation, a touch of blush and mascara.

Williams also discussed the reason she wears wigs at all times - even at the gym. She told the publication she suffers from a thyroid condition that caused her natural hair to thin out. Now she swears by a collection of wigs, some of which she donned for the spread.

"I love big hair. Big hair offsets my big body. The bigger the hair, the smaller the hips," Williams told the news outlet. "Plus I have a small head. As a big girl, you can end up looking snowmanish. Which is why I don’t wear a lot of short hair unless it’s teased out gigantically."

Although she's happy with her body, she does admit to going under the knife and addressed the flak she's received from haters out there - especially from members of the black community.

"They are jealous. Because if I said to that person, 'I got the doctor and I'm going to pay for it," Williams told the magazine. "Choose three things you want to do,' believe me, they would get it done. They are very jealous and scared. Scared of what their other friends would say, or to break out of the box and be different. And being Black? Ugh, please. My people will not go for any kind of surgery. We are supposed to be natural. Ugh, whatever."

Despite the haters, Williams continues to come out on top in terms of ratings. Gather.com reports Williams recently celebrated her 500th show. During the milestone edition, Williams got the thrill of the lifetime by booking her "dream guest," Paula Abdul.  Williams will continue to please and shock the audience with her tips on hip hop clothes, relationships and life advice for at least another season.

Ladies who want to show off their curves this summer like Williams can do so by purchasing the Baby Phat Scarf Print Hi/Lo Dress.
