Xzibit dedicates new album to US troops
Xzibit has been out of the game for more than seven years, taking time off to have some fun pimping people's rides. Now, X is back in a big way with his new album "Napalm." BET reports when "Pimp My Ride" was dropped from MTV back in 2007 X took some time off to focus on his acting career, but has now returned to his first love.
Aside from getting back into music, X has also changed up his sound, as he has grown as a musician during his hiatus. The CD's first track, "Napalm," features Travis Barker on the drums and DJ Sid of Slipknot on the turntables. The heavy metal-inspired song is a switch from his days of gangster rap, as is the message he is trying to get across to his new and old crop of fans. X has dedicated the first video and his album to American soldiers fighting for American freedom. The video was filmed in Iraq, the news source reports.
"It was surreal," X told the publication regarding his time in the country. "We visited places like Saddam Hussein's Palace and actually filmed my video and documentary in there."
Prefix Magazine reports X will also be releasing a four part-documentary that will cover his trip to Iraq. The album will also feature collaborations with Dr. Dre, E-40, Wiz Khalifa, Mobb Deep and Tha Alkaholiks, among others.
