In the spirit of Halloween (yes we know it was yesterday) this week's bargain for your buck is dedicated to one of our favorite costumes: Holly Robinson Peete as Lil' Wayne. Here is how you can get the look whether you're a man or woman.

It all begins with the basic white T-shirt by Essentials:

When it comes to sneakers we know that Lil' Wayne typically goes for color and this Nike pair should be bright enough to stand out:

You Said It…

Lil' Wayne makes prison look like a carefree retreat; a transgender athlete makes history in sports but many wonder if it's fair; marijuana smokers miss their big break; and Republicans give Democrats a run for their money. Get hip to life after the jump.

Lil' Wayne is free...so what?

When it comes to prison and hip-hop there is truly a revolving door. As T.I. heads away another rapper, Lil' Wayne comes on home. This week Lil' Wayne was released from Rikers Island after serving 8 months for weapons possession. Not only did every groupie in the world leave the bedside of Soulja Boy and rush over to Lil' Wayne but apparently most folks are celebrating his "freedom." Now forgive me and the commenter below for rolling our eyes at the fact that people are actually celebrating his release. After all if you do the crime isn't the whole point to do the time?

"I just love the way its portrayed that doing time for a crime is something to be celebrated. What a horrible image to send to the black youth."

What's gender got to do with it?

They say that just about everything under the sun has already been done, well apparently not when it comes to women's basketball. George Washington University's Kyle Allums recently made history by becoming the first openly transgender basketball player to compete in the Division 1 of the NCAA. So here's the story, Kyle was born a female but identifies as a male. To continue playing on the women's team, Kyle has decided not to attempt hormone therapy. Now, I'm all for diversity and breaking new ground but the commenter below does bring up an interesting point.

"How can you say you are a man but play on a woman's team?!! This is nonsense and he/she shouldn't be given a pass. You can't have your cake and eat it too."

Vote or don't smoke

I can't believe this happened. California weed smokers had their big chance to legalize the drug with Proposition 19 but alas they failed to get it passed. Apparently the reason why Prop 19 didn't succeed is because according to poll results conservative voters outnumbered young voters with only 13 percent of those under 30 making their voices heard. But as the commenter below notes there may be a valid reason why young voters didn't turn out.

"They were too stoned!"

Republicans Gain Power

It looks like a change is gonna come. After a tight midterm elections race, Republicans gained power by taking majority control of the House and winning key governorships across the country. Thankfully, this commenter has a few rules in mind that if adhered to can bring about some much needed sanity to the political scene. As if, that will ever happen...but here's to wishful thinking.

"Democrats and Republicans - please do me this favor.. 1) Don't get cocky...2) Try to work with each other ...3) Work the PROBLEMS...4) Look at ALL options - The more options you have available to you, the better odds you have at fixing a problem - plain common sense...Promise me those 4 things and I think you'll have a lot more happy Americans in addition to me."

Shanell: No Longer Afraid to Get Sexy

September 23, 2010 / Posted in Interviews / Music / Style
Tags: Drake / Lil’ Wayne / Nicki Minaj / Shanell

By Souleo. It's got to be hard, tight, sexy and provocative. I'm talking about the style of Young Money Entertainment's, Shanell. After answering a few questions, Shanell returns to JimmyJazz.com to talk her style. While she is now known for her tight shorts, leggings and edgy accessories, Shanell notes that it took her time to find comfort with displaying her body since she never wanted to be seen solely as a sex object.

"I used to be into the big and baggy look. I dressed that way because I hated the attention that women would get when they dressed really feminine. Whatever you tried to do whiter it be music or dancing a man seemed to look past your talent and look at you as a piece of meat," she said.

Finally she has reached a place where she doesn't care about how others perceive her thanks to the confidence and support of her Young Money team (Lil' Wayne, Drake and Nicki Minaj and others).

"Now I'm with a bunch of people that respect me for what I do and I'm comfortable. I don't have to fight to get respected or the right kind of attention anymore. Young Money is like a bunch of brothers and they won't let the wrong person say something crazy.

So now on stage I don't mind wearing whatever I want."

To get Shanell's bold urban meets rock'n'roll style check out her top 3 tips:

It's got to be hard:

I must have some kind of hardware whether it be the necklace or bracelets. I always have my nose ring. I love hardware like something that doesn't look like it belongs where it is.

Let your shoes do the talking:

I'm not a fan of the plain pump. It has to have some kind of funkiness to it with spikes or chains on them. They must come to my ankle too. I like shoes that look like if I wore nothing else but a shoe it would be okay. I think I will start making shoes since it's hard to find a shoe that says what I want it to say.

Look good underneath your clothes:

I have to have matching bra and panty sets. I buy underwear like every other day and a bunch of little sets. Once I can't find one to go with the other I start to lose it. I like when I'm changing and it's like an outfit under the outfit. I've had hardware on there too but those break.

The Questions: Shanell

August 12, 2010 / Posted in Interviews / Music
Tags: Cyndi Lauper / Johnny Depp / Lil Wayne / Lil’ Wayne / Shanell

By Souleo. With her raw lyrics that cut to the core of human emotion, high energy live shows and curvaceous body Shanell may look like the type of woman who will bite your head off for daring to ask the wrong question, but such is not the case. Young Money Entertainment's resident pop/rock/R&B singer-songwriter is actually quite a warm girl at heart with a dream of opening an arts school, a no longer secret Hollywood crush and a thang for herself as revealed in this edition of The Questions.

Stop the hype: The word swag. I hate that word.

I can't get enough of: Apple martinis.

If I were the opposite sex: I'd be infatuated with Shanell.

I dance in my underwear to: Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun."

Five years from now: I want a school that is like the TV show "Fame."

If I could change one thing: The fact that you can download music for free.

You'd be surprised to know: I have a crush on Johnny Depp.

When I'm in bed at night: I'm never alone. I always have my dog, Six with me. Ok, that sounds weird.

Josh Milan Puts Lil’ Wayne’s Music on Blast

July 14, 2010 / Posted in Music
Tags: Alexis P. Suter / Blaze / ChinahBlac / Crystal Johnson / Don Corey Washington / Honey Sweet / Josh Milan / Lamone / Lil’ Wayne / Lloyd Banks / Sandra St. Victor / T'zelle / Trina

By Souleo. Josh Milan made a name for himself by becoming one of house music's most successful artists with his band, Blaze.  Their music is known for its deep spiritual, gospel, soul and Afrobeat influences with positive lyrics.  Josh aims to now carry on that tradition as CEO of his new label, Honey Comb Music after realizing that today's music scene is lacking enough constructive messages for today's youth.

"I hate to call names but Lil' Wayne is great but I don't want my children singing his songs because they won't edify my child's life.  I haven't heard anything positive in his music at all that really speaks to our children where they are and how they can better themselves.  He's a hero for going to jail especially with the gangster thing and I won't accept that.  Do we really want that for our kids?"

Lil' Wayne isn't the only rap star whose music and influence Josh is concerned about.  After witnessing the wild behavior of fans at Detroit's recent Summer Jam concert he is convinced that there needs to be greater responsibility across the board.

"I was in Detroit recently and they had Summer Jam.  Stars like Lloyd Banks and Trina were in the same hotel as me.  These teenagers were there willing to do whatever these artists told them to do.  This is our children doing God knows what.  So I do feel a responsibility as an artist and executive to put out positive music about everyday situations," he said.

To meet that goal Honey Comb Music's first release will be a compilation CD featuring eight artists, all performing songs written and produced by Josh.  Featured on the set are ChinahBlac, Sandra St. Victor, Lamone, Honey Sweet, Don Corey Washington, T'zelle, Crystal Johnson and Alexis P. Suter.

Kevin Rudolf: Beyond the Surface

May 10, 2010 / Posted in Interviews / Music
Tags: Birdman / Jay Sean / Kevin Rudolf / Lil’ Wayne / Prince

By Souleo. If you think you know producer, songwriter and artist Kevin Rudolf, well, think again.  As part of Cash Money Records he skyrocketed to fame with the club anthem, "Let it Rock," feat. Lil' Wayne.  Still, Kevin wants listeners to know that there is more to him than meets the ear; case in point being the underlying message of his megahit.

"I think 'Let it Rock' is really deep.  It came out and people thought it was only a club record 'cause of the beat but I was talking about my life in that song.  I didn't have anything going on when I made the song and I was trying to make it and find my way.  I was talking about hypocrisy and wanting to be the truth," he revealed.

Kevin is intent on making sure that listeners hear the truth on his upcoming sophomore release, To the Sky. To accomplish the goal Kevin is expanding his production and showing more of his musical diversity.

"I'm really versatile and this new album reflects that.  It's almost like a Prince album where nothing necessarily fits together.  It's based on whatever you feel and the thing in common is great songs that mean something," he said.

Kevin is hoping that it's the message of those "great songs," such as his hit new single, "I Made It," featuring Lil' Wayne, Birdman and Jay Sean that people will pay more attention to from now on.

"The pop stuff is great and I love making beats and fun sounding records.  But lyrically I am always in a deeper lane than most of the stuff on the radio.  There is always more going on than what's on the surface."

Paul Wall: Minding his Business

March 15, 2010 / Posted in Interviews
Tags: Lil’ Wayne / Paul Wall

By Souleo. Texas rapper Paul Wall is back and not only is he focused on the music with his upcoming album, Heart of a Champion, but he's also focused on taking his business ventures to the next level.  As an entrepreneur Paul is perhaps most famous for helping to catapult grills-metal jewelry for teeth-into a national phenomenon with his company, Grills by Paul Wall.  Since the height of that national trend it's safe to say that grills are no longer the focus of hip-hop bling and they've even gotten a bad rap lately due to Lil' Wayne's dental surgery for his grills.  JimmyJazz.com got all up in Paul's grill to get his thoughts about the one-time bling phenomena, whether or not grills are still safe and his latest business venture.

On why grills fell off the national style map:

"It got over saturated and started getting corny for some people but that happens with all national trends.  It's still a hood trend and was around before me and will be around long after me."

On Lil' Wayne's grills and the safety of the bling:

"Lil' Wayne's from the old school and had grills since he was 11 years old so he did it the old school way.  Back in the day we used to only do the permanent kind and make the gold for the dentist as jewelry.  So when we do them now we never recommend getting them in permanently.  When that happens they file the teeth down and it brings up more worries.  Now we recommend the removable kind to keep teeth clean and clean the grills."

On his latest business venture:

"Being that I have so many tattoos my dad found www.tattoodetox.com.  When you get tattoos sometimes the ink has different chemicals that can make you sick or affect your body and you won't know it.  So we found this thing to detox you from chemicals in the ink and we sell it on our website."
