April 29 marked 100 days since Barack Obama’s victory taken place in Washington D.C on January 20th. Millions chanted his slogan, “yes we can,” that day. While those same individuals “voted for changed”, they are forced to deal with troubled lifestyles of the depression.
The 44th President held his third pre-time news conference. Obama tackled serious issues on our nation, such as spread of flu virus, job lost, a deficiency of credit, struggles of auto industry, and “threats ranging from terrorism to nuclear proliferation.”
"So we are off to a good start. But it is just a start," Obama said. “I am proud of what we have achieved, but I am not content. I am pleased with our progress, but I am not satisfied.”
President Obama added that “we have plenty of work left to do.” But “we will rebuild a stronger nation. And we will endure as a beacon for all those weary travelers beyond our shores who still dream that this is a place where all is possible.”
When the question was asked during the 100 days in office, “what surprised, enchanted, humbled, and troubled” him, Obama took a moment to write down the list of emotions on a note pad. The President expressed how he was “surprised where he started compared to when first announced the [campaign] race.” Obama “is proud of his team and keep the commitments to the American people to bring change.”
Obama added that is less troubled but understands that “changed in Washington D.C comes slow.” He is humbled that “presidency is extraordinary power.”
The President referred to the metaphor “the ship of state is an ocean liner, not a speed boat.” He noted that changes in need may not be met over a period of time. Obama is “humbled last by the American people that show patience.”
