Hoops heads and basketball sneaker aficionados, this one’s for you! We’ve got word that Jordan Brand is taking it back to the ‘90s with a retro release of the Air Jordan 12 “Playoffs” for the silhouette’s silver anniversary.
Immortalized on the feet of His Airness during the Chicago Bulls’ 1997 NBA Playoff run, this two-toned scheme has been rereleased a handful of times since its initial launch, with the last iteration coming in 2012.
Like the original, this forthcoming version comes covered in black tumbled leather, reaching from the toeboxes down to the heels. From there, stark white, textured mudguards are applied to the lateral and medial sides – each boasting metallic-silver leather tabs. Breaking up the black-and-white look, “Varsity Red” hits appear on the tongue’s embroidered Jumpman emblems, as well as various branding at the heels. The upper is capped off with a luxurious touch – Jumpman-clad uppermost eyelets done in shimmering silver.
Scaling down the sneaker, you’ll encounter foam midsoles done in black and white – the former supporting the sneaker’s heels and the latter appearing at the forefoot. The midsoles sit atop black-and-white rubber outsole units, completing the design.
Looking to get your hands on a pair? They’ll be available on JimmyJazz.com March 1st for a retail price of $200.
