Last year marked the thirtieth anniversary of the Air Jordan 5, and as such, Jordan Brand rolled out a handful of colorways to commemorate the momentous milestone. However, 2020 wasn't the last stop on the congratulatory track for the heritage-hoops model. The Air Jordan 5 train is expected to roll into February like a speeding bullet, thanks in part to a new, “Anthracite”–powered engine.
The upper is done in varying shades of grey and black, with “Anthracite”-suede paneling engulfing the mudguards, ankle collars, and heel panels, and black, textile-mesh underlays gracing the side panels, toeboxes, and tongues. A “Wolf Grey” tone is added to the mix via reflective-mesh netting on the side panels and lower tongues. The hue also appears on the eyestays in nonreflective form.
In typical Air Jordan 5 fashion, the tongues and heels are home to Jumpman logos, while “23” embroidery takes residence on the lateral-heel panels. Foam midsoles are painted black – these are fastened by “Clear”-and-black rubber outsoles.
The Air Jordan 5 “Anthracite” is scheduled to make its debut February 6th on JimmyJazz.com for a retail price of $190.
